A Guide to Candle Selection for the Home, Weddings and Restaurants

Some advantages to using candles is the portability, candles can be placed on tables or almost any flat surface, they come in all sizes, shapes, and colors.

When selecting candles to use in a restaurant for ambient or accent lighting, try to select unscented or low scented candles. If the scent you choose is not a scent that someone likes, the person can lose their appetite. The scent of a candle may also over power the aroma of a cooked meal and drastically change a dinning experience.

If you’re planning a wedding or formal banquet, consider floating candles for your centerpiece. Floating candles are shaped to float upright in water dishes or standing water such as pools or small ponds. Some restaurants also use small floating candles in small water dishes to add ambiance. When designing your center piece, you can set several floating candles in a bowl with a few harmonizing flowers. The larger floating candles are ideal to use in swimming pools, ponds or for outdoor weddings and events.

Jar candles are best for use around the home. An advantage to using jar candles is that the candle comes in a jar with a screw top, and if you feel the scent does not match your mood you can close the candle and open another that better fits your needs. Also some scents are seasonal for example, pumpkin spice or sweet apple. When the seasons change, the jar candle can be closed and stored away for use when the scent matches the season.
